Biography

Dr. Fariborz Lalezarzadeh DO, FACS is one of the most distinguished General Surgeons in Southern California. As a General Surgeon and Clinical Instructor, he has executed a perfect balance between surgical excellence and the advancement of new techniques, all to the benefit of his patients. While Surgical Edge is his private practice, he is currently the Chairman of the Surgery Department at St. Bernardine Medical Center. In addition, he holds membership at a number of professional organizations including the American College of Surgeons, American College of Physician Executives, and the American Osteopathic Association.

He is praised for moving toward state-of-the-art procedures to ensure optimal recovery for his patients. When possible, he elects to perform minimally invasive surgeries simply to provide a higher caliber of care to his patients. Because of this, he is credited with being one the first General Surgeons to introduce and regularly perform surgeries with the daVinci Robotic Surgical System in Southern California. He was the first to introduce General Surgery on the daVinci Platform at St. Bernardine Medical Center and Redlands Community Hospital.

Dr. Lalezarzadeh’s dedication to his patients goes beyond his mastery of surgical operations. He has been comprehensively trained and has extensive experience in the field of Advanced Wound Care and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. Formal Education

Dr. Lalezarzadeh’s educational background speaks to his passion for the medical field. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Philosophy from UCLA. At UCLA, he worked as both a student researcher and a research assistant while maintaining a place on the Dean’s Honors List.
He attended medical school at Western University of Health Sciences, where he graduated as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. He continued his medical training as a General Surgery Resident at Martin Luther King-Drew Medical Center, where he was the Resident of the Year 2002-2003. He was recruited as Senior Resident at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center where he completed his residency as the Executive Chief Resident.

Training and Workshops

Throughout his tenure as a General Surgeon, Dr. Lalezarzadeh has always strived to gain new insight and knowledge to better serve his patients. He believes that the process of learning new techniques affords him a wide range of expertise to push his practice to the forefront of the surgical arena.
Early in his career, he developed the philosophy that performing minimally invasive surgical procedures with state-of-the-art technology would benefit his patients. He has gone through a number of intensive training modules on Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgeries. These state-of-the-art surgical methods minimize wound infection, scarring, blood loss, and complications in the post-surgical stage, which ultimately leads to a faster recovery time.
